Overcoming Bipolar Disorder

Did you know that it is your responsibility to monitor your levels of excitement and to put the proper self-care in place to make sure that you feel grounded and in a good space at all times?

I think this is the biggest secret for conditions like Bipolar Disorder and ADHD

Yes, the medical community will tell you its a chemical imbalance, but when you know your unique vulnerabilities and self-care needs, you can feel yourself getting over-excited, over-joyed with new information, un-grounded due to lack of sleep, and you know you can take a break, you can ground your knowledge, you can take some time to yourself to center and ground. You do not have to be at the mercy of a diagnosis, or a lifetime of medication.

I think because the medical community doesn't know how to cure these conditions, because they do not consider our unique psychology, needs, and spiritual components, many people think there is nothing they can do about the way they are.

As someone who was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, and who was suspect for ADHD, I can tell you, its a choice.

At first the condition comes about due to allostatic load, the chronic stress and anxiety becomes too much for your biology to bare, the new information becomes too addictive, and you lose touch with reality. Often the right type of support is not available to normalize what you are going through, and put you on a path of self-care.

For me, spending a decade on the right medication allowed me to clearly feel the difference between being grounded and being un-grounded. I know and respect my limits, and this has allowed me to stay grounded, even off the medication.

No one is going to do this for you. It's your choice.
